domaine Fonné Michel

Domaine Michel Fonné

The origins of the village date back to the Middle Ages and belonged to the lords of Horbourg, the Counts of Württemberg, the Bishop of Strasbourg and the Lords of Ribeaupierre until the Revolution.

Michel Fonné, oenologist graduated from Dijon, after having acquired the Champagne vinification techniques in Damery and vinified the 1987 harvest of Alexander Valley in California (Hafner Vineyard), took over the family farm succeeding his uncle, René Barth. The development of Domaine Michel Fonné in recent years has enriched our parcels of quality vines. Very appreciated beyond our borders, our wines of Alsace and Alsace Grand Cru are present in Asia, especially in Japan.

The domain currently operates 13 hectares of wineyards spread over 4 communes: Bennwihr, Mittelwihr, Sigolsheim Colmar. 3 grands crus complete our offer of Alsace wines: Marckrain, Mambourg Mandelberg. The exposure of our vines enjoys the best sunshine in the privileged microclimate of the region.

Michel Fonne takes great care in the production of quality Alsace wines. At the base, the work of the land is rigorous, then the work of the vine is extremely neat. Finally, the elaboration and the follow-up of the wines of Alsace is carried out with a lot of thoroughness in order to obtain the best aromas which reflect the expression of the soil.
