Domaine Sylvain Hertzog

Sylvain Hertzog took over the family business in 1977. Since 1983, the entire vineyard has been planted and cultivated in a reasoned manner and the mechanization of vineyard work does not detract from respect for tradition and nature.

Independent winemaker, elected winemaker of the year 2017 by the Hachette Wine Guide, located 5km from Colmar the capital of Alsace wines, and not far from Eguisheim the 2013 favorite village of the French and Kaysersberg that of the year 2017.

Family exploitation for 3 generations of about 8Ha in fight reasoned to preserve our vineyard and the richness of the soil.

Our vineyards are in natural grass, alternated for the most part to enjoy a better exposure to the sun until the manual harvest.{we take care of our vineyard as if it were a “Grand Cru” with the same treatments as organic winemakers). A wine often looks like the winegrower especially as we produce and raise our wines ourselves. We therefore make rather dry wines for the entry-level and on the fruit for the other vintages thanks to the vines worked on clay-limestone soil and to a so-called “Bildstoecklé” place which make all the specificity of our wines. We offer a wide selection of gourmet wines, but also rounder wines or more subtile ones so you can find wines to your liking.

For lovers of slightly more tannic wines or woody notes, some of our wines are even aged in wood barrels at the famous cellar of the Hospices de Strasbourg housing the oldest wine in the world dating from 1472.
