Domaine Xavier Muller

Domaine Xavier Muller

Our domain is located in Marlenheim, the gateway to the “Route des vins”. Today the domain covers 25 hectares, which 10 of are classified as Grand Cru Steinklotz. In 2002, driven by our past, we decided to elaborate our wines, in an old Mill erected on an Island.

Since 1960, the Muller family has vineyards (2 ha), and is a seller of grapes. From 1960 to 1980, the exploitation is mainly a polycultural exploitation, dairy cows, cereals (wheat, corn) and tobacco. During this period, the family also bought 3 ha of vineyards, located in the current Grand Cru Steinklotz.

In 1980, the family ceased the farming polyculture part, apart from the cereals (25 ha) and increased the winemaking part following a consolidation on the heights of the hill. Xavier Léon MULLER whose family descended from millers settled until the end of the 19th century in the valley of Kronthal, acquired the Thomanns Muehle with the support of his father Alphonse MULLER and his uncle Xavier MULLER.

It now exploits more than 25 ha of the vineyard, spread over the entire hill overlooking Marlenheim, from Koenig at the East (a place-called that transmits the memory of the Merovingians who resided there in the sixth century) to Sand in the West (only section with sandy soil), including 10 ha Grand Cru Steinklotz.

Domaine Xavier Muller wants to develop wines with a real personality, faithful to the soil and soul of Alsace.
